Client report pages

Corrections: support@domainvane.com

Client report pages are included on Agency and Agency+. A report page is a read-only link that shows a client the status of hostnames you choose. The client does not get a login. Anyone who has the unguessable link can open the page, so the link itself, not a password, is what grants access.

The cap counts pages that have not been revoked. On any other plan, or at the cap, creating a page returns a forbidden response. Hostname caps are separate: a report page does not raise your hostname limit, and paused hostnames still count toward the hostname cap.

Create a page

Sign in and open Report pages in the dashboard menu (/reports). Type a client label and tick the hostnames this client should see. You can only pick hostnames already on your account. Choose Publish report, and the page shows the new link once. Copy it then.

The page shows only the hostnames you picked. Adding a hostname to your account later does not add it to an existing page. To change the list, publish a new page and revoke the old one.

The label is free text and appears on the page. Avoid putting a person's name or other personal data in it unless you mean for anyone with the link to see it.

The link

The URL looks like https://domainvane.com/r/<token>. The token is 32 random bytes. Domainvane stores only a SHA-256 hash of it, so the link cannot be shown again after you leave the page where it was created.

The page requires no login. All text on it is HTML-escaped. Treat the URL as a secret, because anyone who has it can read the status of the attached hostnames. Send it only to people who should see that status.

Revoking

Choose Revoke next to a page on the Report pages screen. The URL then returns 404. An unknown or guessed token returns the same 404, so the responses can't be told apart, and tokens are not sequential.

Revoke a page when a client relationship ends, when the link was forwarded too widely, or when you want a different hostname list.

A view of the page is counted for analytics as report_viewed. Logs for that view omit the token and the client label.

What the client can see

For each attached hostname, the page shows the same kind of facts as your dashboard: the latest TLS status and days until certificate expiry, and the domain-expiry status with registry or registrar provenance when RDAP returned a date. Pending means no check has completed yet. Unknown means RDAP did not give a usable expiry date. The page does not substitute a guess, and it does not fall back to WHOIS.

Paused hostnames are not checked, so a paused name on a page keeps showing its last results.

What the page is not

  • It is not white-label. Your logo, your colors, and a hostname on your own domain are not available. The link stays on domainvane.com under /r/<token>.
  • It is not an alert. The client is not emailed, and your alert channels are unchanged. See alerts and webhooks.
  • It is not a public API. There is no API key and no JSON feed for the page.
  • It does not prove that you control the hostnames. It shows the check results for names you attached.

If you downgrade or cancel

Report pages are not revoked when your plan changes. If you move to a plan without report pages (Solo or Free), or a cancellation returns the account to Free at the end of the billing period:

  • Existing links keep working until you revoke them. They show the latest results for each hostname. A hostname that the downgrade paused (the newest ones over the new hostname cap) is no longer checked, so it keeps showing its last results.
  • You cannot create new pages.
  • The Report pages screen still lists your existing pages with a Revoke button.

Moving from Agency+ to Agency works the same way for pages over the new cap of 50: they keep working, and you can't create more until fewer than 50 remain.

Deleting the account removes all of its report pages, and their links return 404. Hostnames are not deleted on a downgrade; the newest hostnames over the new hostname cap are paused. See getting started.
